The Samoa Police, Prisons and Corrections Services (S.P.P.C.S.) declared the promotion of its 13 officers as newly ranked and seniors within the Ministry, a success.

The 13 promoted officers will have new and bigger responsibilities awaiting them within the Ministry while enforcing the law in the country, and they will have the opportunity to "take on new challenges and grow in their careers," police stated.

Families and friends of the newly ranked officers joined them in the celebration of their new beginnings at the All Saints Anglican Church Hall, to witness their moments of happiness especially for those who have served the country for years.

Police Commissioner, Auapa'au Logoitino Filipo delivered the keynote address at the event and encouraged the officers of their newly improved careers.

"Today marks the beginning of the new journey for the promoted officers," said Auapa'au.

The Commissioner also congratulated the members on their accomplishments.

'I applaud all of you for taking steps to further your careers," he said.

"It's not an easy path," he said, "but I encourage you to stay on course and do your best in serving the people of Samoa, as well as our visitors."

Reiterating the adage, "with great power comes great responsibility."

Samoa Prisons' Deputy Commissioner Leiataua Samuelu Afamasaga who officiated the ceremony reminded the promoted officers that while the road ahead will be challenging, "you must never forget this day and your oath as ranked officers and seniors in the job."

The 13 newly elevated members were subsequently sworn into their new positions.

These members included 11 males and two females, namely; Commissioned Officers:

Superintendent Rank: Tai Tapu (M) Sapani Leleimalefaga (M) Solomona Natia (M)

Inspector Rank: Salale Salale (M) Commanding Officer (Maritime) – Inspector Rank: Maioa Amosa (M)

Non- Commissioned Officers: Executive Officer (Maritime) – Senior Sergeant Rank: Faletoese Talapusi (M) Sergeant Rank: Vaasili Vaasili (M) Lupe Taalo (F) Faatonu Lavea (M) Tasi Asia (M) 

Second in Charge Engineer (Maritime) Sergeant Rank: Tasesa Auelua (M)

Senior Corrections Officers Rank: Tafilisaunoa Matautia (F) James Fiso (M)
