The Pacific music festival, known as the Motherland Concert, will feature well-known regional artists from around the globe with free admission on offer for members of the public.

Scheduled to be held at Apia Park on Saturday 3 June 2023, the music festival's headline acts include the California-based international reggae artist J Boog as well as HP Boyz, Lisi, Savage, DJ Noiz, Kennyon Brown, Tomorrow People, and Wayno. Local artists including Mautoatasi and Matalena, Zipso, and the Pacific Love Band will add local flavour to the concert.

Details of the concert were officially unveiled on Monday by the Minister of Tourism, Toesulusulu Cedric Schuster at the Samoa Tourism Authority (S.T.A.) fale.

"It's their spirit of wanting to lend a hand for the people of Samoa, especially sons, and daughters of Samoa who are well known in the field of music in overseas countries," the Minister said.

"Through this spirit of helping and giving back to our people, everyone can participate and enjoy free of charge. There will be VIP tables which will be the only areas that will require fees but the main goal is for everyone to watch without paying."

The concert will run from 1 pm to 10 pm on the scheduled date and is part of Samoa's commemoration of its 60th Independence anniversary celebrations. The event will be funded by the PacificCast who are working in partnership with the S.T.A. to organise the event.

Connecting with the universal language of music, the festival aims to provide a platform for internationally recognised artists alongside emerging Pacific artists to create a fusion of cultural experiences.

Toesulusulu, in his remarks to mark the occasion, highlighted the importance of the emergence of different Pacific tastes of music which will mostly feature Samoan music composures highlighting the language and the culture.

He added that each of these internationally recognized artists is participating as their way of returning home and making an impact after so much that the country has been through over the years.

"I am excited to come home and perform for my people. I am a proud Samoan but more importantly, I am a proud Pasifika man and this festival will unite us," Wayno said in a press release.

The cost for a VIP ticket is AUD$149 while a VVIP ticket is AUD$299. The golden ticket has the highest price of SAT$20,000 which also comes with various benefits including free admission to any Motherland festival and more.
