Korean church looks to expand to Samoa
A Korean church based in New Zealand called the Zion Christian Mission Centre hopes to start a new chapter in Samoa and is hosting an exhibition in Lotopa.
Regional instructor of theological school, Mareko Taafua presented their 100,000 graduate exhibition here in Samoa, which will be taking place at the AOG Lotopa Harvest centre.
“This is our time to learn more about the God’s promise that he had made through the shedding of His blood 2000 years ago," said Mr. Taafua.
"We are looking to expand in to the pacific and we are starting here in Samoa, maybe in the next year or so we can reach out to other pacific countries.”
The Mission Centre in Samoa started in late January where they had their first bible class with about 40–50 students who joined online and in person.
The Zion Christian Mission Centre is part of a mega church in Korea called the Shincheonji Church of Jesus. This is an independent Christian denomination that has been in existence for over 40 years. It was established back in 1984 in South Korea and has grown into a global denomination of over 300,000 members in over a 100 countries.
Grace Tuimavave, who is also part of the Church mission centre, said that this was an opportunity to equip all believers with the word of God.
“We have travelled here from the Shincheonji New Zealand branch established in 2015. Zion Christian Mission centre is a theological school that has been providing bible theology courses free of charge to all Christian and non-Christians since 1990,” said Ms. Tuimavave.
“One of the church’s core beliefs is that all Christians should be well equipped with the word of God, the bible, so that they can carry the life of faith that according to the bible is very pleasing to God.”
There already many believers’ and non-believers in New Zealand and Samoa have already graduated through this centre. The most unprecedented success of the church is their 100,000 graduation in 2019 and 2022.
According to the church, this makes them the world’s largest theological education institution and graduation of its kind with 522 pastors, with 37 in Korean and the rest are all overseas.
They will showcase at the upcoming exhibition the amazing work that God has done and is fulfilling all over the world and invited the public to come and be a part of the celebration.
“Our main goal is to spread the word and help people to have a deeper understanding of God’s word and understand the promises that He has for us today," said Mr. Taafua.
"A lot of us are Christian but not a lot of us know the deep meanings of the bible. We want to help them understand these things and help them develop their relationship with God using the bible.”
