Former N.U.S. boss is Health C.E.O.

National University of Samoa’s top man Professor Aiono Dr. Alec Ekeroma has been as the Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry of Health while Catholic educator Aeau Christopher Hazelman takes over the reign of Ministry of Education, Sport and Culture.

Cabinet made the announcement on Tuesday evening.

Dr. Ekeroma holds a PHD in Building Health Research and Capacity of Clinicians from University of Auckland complemented MBA Health Management and Planning from Keele University, United Kingdom, England.

A pragmatic educator of 29 years, Aeau’s wealth of experience includes working in Mission and Public schools as a teacher and leader.

For 13 years, Aeau served as Director of Catholic Education in Samoa from 2003-2016 after a decade of services as a teacher, Vice Principal and eventually Principal of the Catholic Senior College.

He joined the public service as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the National University of Samoa in 2014 until 2021.

Both appointment are for a period of three years.
