Poem; The Bitter Seed
In the heart of the Pacific, where the turquoise waters gleam,
Samoa, a nation awakening from a dream.
For power is gone, the trust has turned to dust,
A broken state weeps, its spirit crushed.
The current fails, a metaphor stark,
For governance adrift, a sinking ark.
The sacred script, our guiding light and shield,
The Constitution’s strength, betrayed and peeled.
This crumbling party, built on lies and greed,
Has sown the wind and reaped a bitter seed.
But shadows lengthen, as the government’s light fades,
A budget unpassed, a symphony of misguided charades.
They promised prosperity, with voices smooth and low,
But false accusation, like weeds, began to grow.
Remember speeches, grand and full of grace?
The hollow words now etched on time and space.
“We’ll build a better Samoa”, they vowed with fervent tongue,
But their foundation cracked, their grand design unstrung.
Deceitful whispers, a web they spun with care,
Ensnaring the public in a tangle of despair.
The lamps of the nation flicker, fade and die,
A darkness deep where promises now lie.
Power outages, a darkness that descends,
While daily life, on a fragile thread, depends.
The nation’s wealth, a treasure meant to share,
Has vanished swift, dissolved into thin air.
Grocery shelves, a barren empty sight,
A simple task, now a daunting fight.
Millions of tala, like whispers on the breeze,
Leaving behind a land brought to its knees.
Countless taxes vanished, a phantom’s hand,
Leaving holes and parasites across the land.
The coffers weep, a nation’s fear,
Debt’s heavy shroud, year after year.
The cry of a falling nation, so desperate and willing,
For Samoa’s future has come to its ending.
The shadows lengthen, fear begins to creep,
As lawless acts their wicked harvest reap.
Our island nights, once filled with calm gentle sound,
Now echo threats where the nation’s safety can’t be found.
The glowing screen, a siren’s call,
Where truth is twisted, meant to fall.
A web of lies, spun with such art,
To steal the hope within each heart.
The people’s hunger, not just for daily bread,
But for truth, for justice, words left unsaid.
A new era dawns, a yearning in the air,
For leadership true, the answer to our prayers.
Our homeland rises, with a spirit bold and free,
To claim its destiny, for all the world to see.
But in the silence, something Samoa should know,
A better nation, lies within your vote.
