The silence of good behaviour

To know what is right and not do it is the worst cowardice." - Confucius

The Bible also teaches that “they who maintain justice, who constantly do what is right (Psalm 106:3) not just now and then but ‘constantly’ are blessed. It’s not hard to see that last week’s events will draw no blessings as the Police have already found out.

Ironically, the only positive development is the decision to pay extra money to the former President of the Land and Titles Court, because of the delay in the hearing of his claim against his dismissal, as he was one of the main designers of the controversial laws.

The sad aspect of the unpleasant developments is that they were all foreseen but because of what many saw as sheer arrogance the highly discredited laws were forced through, despite very strong reasonable, local and international, criticisms.

Now that everybody should know the two-headed judiciary does not work, when will the government act to rectify the situation and clean up the mess?

Last week’s events and the quandary the Police find themselves in are, without doubt, the direct consequences of failures to do right, not through cowardice but arrogance and self-importance of those who forced the Land and Titles Act 2020, the Constitutional Amendment Act 2020 and the Judicature Act 2020, through Parliament despite local and international protests against them.

It's a fact, as the Editorial Board says, that the FAST Party did promise to clean up the legislative mess; the question now is: when is it going to do that? I hope it will not be too long before it acts, otherwise the following will be its fate:

Throughout history, it has been the inaction of those who could have acted; the indifference of those who should have known better; the silence of the voice of justice when it mattered most; that has made it possible for evil to triumph."

Is Haile Selassie related to King Solomon? Does it matter, if he does not?

It is known that he was the last reigning monarch of Ethiopia’s Solomonic Dynasty. The Solomonic Dynastry traces its ancestry to King Solomon of Israel and the Queen of Sheba.

We know that what he said is true. We have the saying:

Pau a le mafua’aga e sao ai Amioleaga, o le gugu o Amiolelei.

The only reason Bad Behaviour succeeds, is the silence of Good Behaviour.
