Mefiposeta Tapusina of Leauva’a is a caring young man.

While most people his age are running after girls and other worldly desires, his priority is his 72-year-old mother.

Speaking to the Village Voice, Mefiposeta said he has always wanted to work but his main responsibility is his mother.

“My mother is a very important person to me; so important that I’m 29 now and I still don’t have a family of my own,” he said.

“I can’t even go to work because I need to be there for her just in case she needs help with something.”

The love comes from a special bond he shares with her.

“My other siblings all have jobs and they are the ones responsible for funding anything that our mother needs and I’m the one who takes care of her,” he said.

“I’ve noticed that nowadays it’s not easy finding a job, so it’s better just to use up my time to do something useful like taking care of my mother and my family.”

“This is my way of helping the ones I love.”

Mefiposeta said that when everyone goes to work, he’s the only adult left at home with his mother and her grandchildren.

“My mother needs help with a lot of things at home so she’s always calling out to someone to come.”

“That’s why it’s important for me to be present at home because my nieces and nephews are little and most of the things that my mother needs help with, they don’t understand or know how to do.”

“For example like cooking and cleaning the land, so I am responsible at home to cook and provide whilst my siblings work.”

“Maybe one day I will be able to work when the kids are all grown up, and they can take care of her while I go to work.”

“I have learned a lot from my mother and I know that I will be good at doing any job one day because she has taught me so much.”
