Emerging Artists launch ‘Project Cinderella 2018’
The Emerging Artists (EA) association has launched ‘Project Cinderella 2018’ – an initiative that will run for six months as part of the Association Charity affiliation.
Project Cinderella was initiated in 2016 to reach out to the Home of the Elderly run by the Little Sisters of the Poor at Mapuifagalele and working shoulder to shoulder with the nuns and caregivers.
The Project Cinderella activities allows E.A. members to activate their individual professions and strengths to help out with the elderly men and women at Mapuifagalele.
The members offered their services, namely, nursing and medical consultation provided by members of the association who are registered nurses. Hair-cuts for the elderly men and women provided by their graduate hairstylist member. Moreover, floral arrangements and cleaning done by other members and the rest engaging in singing and dancing with the elderly.
“This is the first phase of Project Cinderella for the home and E.A. will be here every third Saturday for six months to offer our services.”
We are blessed to receive training and education in each of our fields of expertise and we are more than happy to put that training to good use,” said Kevin Schuster, president of E.A.
“We are more than grateful to receive this act of kindness from you, knowing that you are very talented, gifted and intelligent individuals, it makes us happy that you are honoring your God-given talents and gifts by helping the elderly men and women of Mapuifagalele” said Sister Sarah Skelton.
EA Association is dominated by faafafines but there are also young men and women that together form the Association through their contribution and commitment to all the activities as outlined in their Annual Calendar of Activities.
“It’s a real pleasure to have been a part of this project once again by offering our diverse range of services and skill sets for the Home of the Elders. Any form of charity we do together brings us closer to each other and what a great feeling to be able to lend a hand to those in need” says Charlize Leo, who is an EA Member and also Miss SFA 2017 – 2018
The ‘Cinderella’ project was inspired by the Walt Disney classic with the same name, and with reference to the main character’s daily chores done quietly and selflessly.
Project Cinderella is on-going from now until November this year with hopefully another phase come next year.
