6N: Flyhalf Jalibert replaced by Carbonel for Scotland game
PARIS (AP) — Flyhalf Matthieu Jalibert will miss France's Six Nations decider against Scotland after hurting his jaw in the epic 32-30 win against Wales.
He will be replaced in the squad by Louis Carbonel, the French Rugby Federation said on Sunday.
Jalibert's starting spot against Scotland is expected to go to Romain Ntamack, who did well when he replaced Jalibert against Wales, with Carbonel on the bench as backup at Stade de France on Friday.
France still has a chance to pip Wales to the title after denying it a record-equaling 13th Grand Slam in a pulsating game, which France won with an injury-time try from fullback Brice Dulin.
To win a first Six Nations title in 11 years, France needs another bonus-point win and hope it scores enough to beat Wales on points difference.
The 22-year-old Carbonel has three test caps and is the latest player to come through from the under-20 world champions.
Carbonel kicked the winning penalty with 15 minutes remaining to give France a 24-23 win over Australia in 2019, a year after starring on home soil by kicking 23 points in the 2018 final against England.
