Chris Ah Lam Samoa's first Christmas baby
A Toamua couple, Safua and Uaea Ah Lam, will always remember Christmas in the year 2020.
The best present for them literally arrived a few minutes after midnight on 25 December 2020 when their baby boy, Christmas Ah Lam, was born.
Christmas was Samoa's first baby born on Christmas day at 12:37 a.m.
His mother said no other name was on their mind for when the nurses said their newborn baby is Samoa's first baby born on the 25th.
"We decided to call him Chris," Mrs. Ah Lam, 25, said. "It is short for Christmas."
The healthy baby boy weighing 3580 grams is the couple's fourth child.
"I was in labour for a very long time, I thought I'd give birth on the 24th," Mrs. Ah Lam said tearily.
"I thank God for his strength channelled through me to successfully deliver my baby boy. I'm very happy, very proud and privileged to have birthed the first Christmas baby."
Wiping away tears, Mrs. Ah Lam said this is her hardest child yet.
She also thanked the staff of the hospital who were on duty and nurses who delivered her child saying the nurses' response and patience to their cries and whines during labour does not go unnoticed.
"I thank them for all they have done for me but no words can describe how delighted I am to have my baby body on Christmas day, it's a blessing," said Mrs. Ah Lam.
The couple have been together for five years. Together they now have three boys and one girl.
