Christmas is approaching and Elder Sapele Faalogo, Jr., Area Seventy for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, says he is looking forward to hearing the sounds of the season.

"I am looking forward to hearing choirs, choral groups and soloists from my church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Saints, and from our friends in other churches,” said Elder Faalogo.

“There are many opportunities to share beautiful Christmas carols and hymns, from worship services in our congregations and at interfaith events, to sharing our faith and talents online.”

In late October, The Church of Jesus Christ issued an invitation to all to participate in the annual Christmas Concerts on Temple Square in Salt Lake City.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the concerts are being held virtually.

Members of The Church of Jesus Christ and friends of other faiths around the world were invited to submit Christmas video performances.

Videos will be edited into concerts and broadcast on ChurchofJesusChrist.org throughout the Christmas season, according to a statement by the church.

“For example, our church is inviting choirs and other musical groups around the world to participate in a Salt Lake City-based Temple Square online Christmas concert,” said Elder Faalogo over the weekend.

“Wouldn't it be wonderful if a Samoan choir took part in this worldwide event?”

The video performances will also become part of the annual Light the World Christmas campaign, which focuses on celebrating and sharing the light of Jesus Christ.

The 2020 Light the World campaign was officially launched on Monday.

Ideas for ways to serve others and light the world during this year’s Christmas season are now available on LightTheWorld.org
