Father's day death accused in Court

A 38-year-old man, accused over the death of a Vaiusu male as a result of an alleged hit and run incident during the Father’s Day holiday, appeared in Court this week. 

Lino Lino is facing murder and manslaughter charges over the death of Ataiti Ulugia Mika, a 40-year-old male of Vaiusu. 

The accused who is detained in custody is also facing charges of causing actual bodily harm to two other male from Vaiusu and Vaiala.  

Lino is suspected to have driven a white dyna on the Father’s Day holiday at Vaitele fou where he allegedly ran over the deceased and caused injuries to two other men. 

He appeared before Chief Justice, His Honour Satiu Simativa Perese, for criminal mention. 

Prosecutor and Attorney General’s Office lawyer, Fuifui Ioane asked for an adjournment to allow police to finalise charges against the accused. 

The matter has been adjourned until next month.
