A man recently detained after the Police confiscated more than 10 firearms including high powered rifles from a raid in Faleula is asking the court for bail.

Ipuauro Uli Sagote, 44 years of age of Faleula and Lalomalava appeared in the Supreme Court earlier this week.

He was represented by lawyer Unasa Iuni Sapolu.

The defense lawyer told Chief Justice, His Honour Satiu Simativa Perese that she will be filing a bail application for her client.

She also asked that the prosecution serve all documents and charges against the accused so she can get instructions from Sagote on his plea.

Sagote is facing multiple charges of possession of utensils as well as possession of unlawful weapons and ammunition and unregistered firearm.

Prosecutor and Attorney General’s Office lawyer, Fuifui Ioane said the Police are yet to finalise charges against the accused.

Chief Justice Satiu adjourned the matter for bail hearing in two weeks-time.

He ordered that the accused remains in custody until his next appearance.
