A Police Inspector, Kenneth Komiti, says he is “shocked” that he has been placed on suspension.

That was his reaction when he was contacted by the Samoa Observer for a comment, before he declined to divulge further information.

Komiti has been a prosecutor, working in tangent with Attorney General, for 12 years. He has been suspended pending an internal investigation.

The Samoa Observer understands that Komiti was suspended last week in relation to his handling of a firearm at the center of a criminal case pending in Court. In the case, the defendant is facing a charge of being armed with a dangerous weapon.

Attempts to get a comment from Police Commissioner, Fuiava Egon Keil, were not responded to.
