Law Society retains executive, welcomes new secretary
The Samoa Law Society (S.L.S.) has reelected President Leiataualesa Komisi Koria and its Executive with the exception of a new secretary.
President Leiataualesa confirmed the decision was unanimously approved in the S.L.S. Annual General Assembly held on Friday evening.
He said a motion was moved to continue the same executive members during the election and was approved by the those present.
Leitaualesa remains as President, Vice President is Sua Helene Wallwork, new Secretary is Taitulagi Tuioti and Treasury is Fuimaono Sarona Ponifasio.
Former secretary Maoiautele Brigitta Lo Tam-Faafiti stepped down from her role said the President.
Leitaualesa added the annual meeting continued on with my its usual business with financial and nothing to do with bills related to the Land and Titles Court currently before Parliament.
The Society has recently been vocally opposed to proposed changes to that Court.
The meeting was followed bt a welcome reception from the society on the new Chief Justice, His Honour Satiu Simativa Perese.
There are currently more than 160 lawyers registered under the S.L.S. from Government and private firms.
