Man facing 10 years for burglary

A 29-year-old man is looking at 10 years in prison for burglary, theft and property damage charges for breaking into a store in Faleula to steal food and other items early this year.

The defendant Honi Tauese appeared for sentencing before Supreme Court Justice Vui Clarence Nelson on Monday.

But his sentencing was adjourned to Friday, 3 July, 2020.

According to the Summary of Facts, after a barbecue store in Faleula closed on the evening of 20 February, 2020, Tauese broke into the place and stole various items.

He went into the refrigerator and took food items including green beans and tomatoes plus other goods.

In addition, Tauese trespassed onto the store owner’s property and damaged property when he broke into the store.

The defendant confirmed the Summary of Facts (S.O.F.) as correct after it was read in open court.

In earlier proceedings, Tauese pleaded guilty to charges of burglary, theft and property damage.

Justice Vui has scheduled sentencing for Friday, 3 July, 2020.
