Talofa Airways is in Kiribati this week helping stranded Members of Parliament get back to the capital Tarawa in time for their first sitting, after their first plane broke down.

Kiribati's Parliament Clerk, Eni Tekanene, said the Talofa Airways plane left Apia on Monday, and will stop in at least four islands to pick up several M.P.s, before Parliament sits on Wednesday, when the plane will return to Samoa.

Meanwhile, 207 iKiribati citizens are registered with their government as stranded overseas and trying to get home from Fiji, Solomon Islands, Marshall Islands, the United States, New Zealand and Taiwan.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports 207 people have registered for an allowance to help them get by until they can travel back to Kiribati.

Radio Kiribati reports the Kiribati Government chartered the plane because of Parliament starting this week.
