A white rental van crashed into a ditch in front of Tels Car Wash on Thursday night in pouring rain.

An eyewitness, who lives in the area and spoke to the Samoa Observer on the condition of anonymity, said the crash happened at about 10:30pm and that four young men came in the van.

"The young men were all drunk," he said. "The car swerved and hit the side of my concrete driveway. It fell into the ditch right in front of our hedge and hit the cable post ground locks.

"Four young men who looked to be around the ages of 20 came in the car and all were from Vailima. They were underaged, and  none held a driver's license and all four were drunk."

The Police showed up at the incident on Thursday night and the young men were tested with the alcohol breathalyzer and the vehicle was also removed.

According to the witness, three of the young men escaped from the incident after taking the alcohol breathalyzer.

"They all took the test but three were able to escape. The police went after them but I'm not sure if they found them that night."

It was not possible to get a comment from the Police before press time.
