Police in surprise sweep of Tanumalala Prison for contraband

Police are doing a "sweep" of the Tanumalala Prison following an incident early in the week where a scissors was used in a brawl amongst the inmates.

This was confirmed by Commissioner Fuiavaili'ili Egon Keil in an interview with the Samoa Observer over the phone. 

"We are doing a sweep of the prison right now," he said.

Speaking last Wednesday during a press conference, the Police Commissioner said the Police uncovered axes, cell phones, shanks, metal pipes at the facility after the breakout of 36 passengers last Monday.
