Alleged plotter against P.M. back in custody

One of the two men accused of conspiring to murder Prime Minister, Tuilaepa Dr. Sa'ilele Malielegaoi, is back in Police custody.

Lema’i Faioso Sione was arrested and placed back in custody on Monday for breaching his bail conditions.

Police Commissioner, Fuiavailiili Egon Keil, confirmed that Lema’i did not sign in at one of the Police stations as required.

Lema’i together with co-defendant Malele Paulo, better known as King Faipopo, were released on bail last month after spending six months in custody.

The men were released on the condition that they sign in with Police station twice a week, surrender travel documents, refrain from contacting prosecution witnesses.

They were told to stop discussing matters concerning the charges against them on social media and for them  not to contact Talalelei Pauga, whom is alleged to have conspired with them.

Lema’i and Paulo have been fighting to be released on bail for the last six months pending their trial.

They have both pleaded not guilty to two counts of conspiracy to murder the Prime Minister.

The third man accused, Taualai Leiloa, has already pleaded guilty to the charges against him.

His sentence is pending until November this year.

Since the men were released on bail, security at the Prime Minister’s Ululoloa residence has tightened.
