Bad weather prevented Brisbane couple, Brooke Smith, and Nick Fry from visiting Savai’i but an island-wide tour of Upolu made up for it.

They initially had plans to go to Savai’i but cancelled at the last minute as they were advised that the ferry service would stop if bad weather continued.

“We wanted to go to Savaii but someone told us that the ferry might cancel their trips and so we decided to just stay here, just in case we might miss our flight when we go,” said Ms Smith.

Turning their focus to Upolu, they embarked on a tour of the whole island and were able to visit the Tosua Trench, Piula cave pool and other sightseeing areas.

“We enjoyed much of the island, we have toured around the whole of Upolu and absolutely love the people,” Ms Smith said in an interview with Samoa Observer. “Samoa is such a vibrant small country, and I would recommend everyone to visit the Tosua Trench, Piula cave pool and just go sightseeing, the island is just beautiful and lovely.”

The couple also took time out to watch Samoan cultural shows and visited the handicraft market in town, on top of enjoying Samoan hospitality.

They said they were amazed with how they were welcomed in the different areas and treated for the duration of their stay, and are planning to return to Samoa for another visit.

The couple returned to Brisbane, Australia last Wednesday evening.
