Gray out of Six Nations in further blow to struggling Scots

EDINBURGH, Scotland (AP) — Scotland’s miserable Six Nations campaign got worse Monday when lock Jonny Gray was ruled out for the remainder of the tournament because of a hand injury.

Gray was hurt during the 13-6 loss to England on Saturday and is returning to his club, Glasgow Warriors, for treatment.

Scotland has lost its opening two games, against Ireland and England, and has been without flyhalf Finn Russell because of what the team described as a breach of protocol before the tournament.

Russell said in a newspaper interview over the weekend he has “clashed quite a lot” with Scotland coach Gregor Townsend and that they've “not got a personal relationship.”

The Scots next play at Italy on Feb. 22 in what is shaping up to be a game that will determine which team finishes in last place.
