The Vaimoso rugby community kicked off the 2020 season with a service at Pesega on Friday.

The service also launched the Rugby Club's new uniform, designed by Kiwiteamwear-Carisbrook New Zealand.

The service was officiated by Vaimoso Methodist Minister, Reverend Auro Su’a Teve.

“Blessing the uniforms is also blessing the club's soul to exercise Godliness in all they do both on and off the field,” Reverend Teve said.

Funding for the uniforms came from major sponsors, HJ Keil, Samoa Commercial Bank, Apollo Cinemas, Business Systems Limited and Loibl Motors and Repairs.

The club’s other playing uniforms for 2020 were supplied by Siva Tau Outfitters thanks to support from the Tama Fanau a Vaimoso from Hawaii and the United States, as well as some from Tama Fanau a Vaimoso in Australia that were presented to the club by Nanai Johnny Tuivasa over Christmas.

Vaimoso Rugby Club also acknowledged their other longtime partners; Latu Law, PLT Consultants, Pacific Jewel, Tusi’s Catering and Engineering, Kilos Hut and Tisaan Designs.

“We especially acknowledge with sincere appreciation the LDS Church, the Pesega High School Board and the Stake VP for our continuing partnership for the use of the Pesega Grounds for team training,” a press release from the Club said.

“This partnership has been in place between the LDS Church and the Vaimoso Village Council for well over 50 years now.”

The new uniforms see their first action on Saturday at the Apia Rugby Union 7s tournament, with HJ Keil Vaimoso entering two teams.
