Woman admits to scalding husband
A woman has pleaded guilty to pouring boiling water over her husband causing him grievous bodily harm.
Manamea Choo Koon entered her guilty plea on the Supreme Court on Monday after she decided not to be represented by a lawyer.
It was alleged that on 25 September at Alafua, Mrs. Choo Koon of Vailele poured boiling water on her husband Risati Choo Koon, causing him severe burn injuries.
Justice Tafaoimalo Leilani Tuala–Warren adjourned the matter until December 16 for the woman to be sentenced.
The prosecution sought a warrant of arrest for Mrs. Choo Koon when she failed to appear in Court last week.
The matter was initially called in the District Court but was later transferred to the Supreme Court due to the jurisdiction of the courts.
The penalty for the charge is imprisonment of not more than 10 years.
