Schools Athletics say thank you S.S.A.B.
The Champion of Champions Organisation Committee extended their sincere gratitude to the Samoa Stationery and Books (S.S.A.B.) for their extensive sponsorship for the inter-college athletic programme that has been running all month.
According to S.S.A.B. Owner, Tofilau Fiti Leung Wai, the estimated number of the in-kind sponsor provided is "estimated to almost about $40,000 or more".
The company provided for Zone A, B, C, D and also the Champ of Champs, from free multiple official t-shirts, printing and also provided all the prizes for the divisions.
President of Champion of Champions Organisation Committee, Matafeo Seinafolava Reupena announced that operating each Zone events, up to Champs was made convenient because of the limitless sponsorship from SSAB.
Not only for this year but also in the previous years.
"I extend our gratitude on behalf of the whole Champion of Champions Organisation Committee and Teacher’s Council of Samoa to say thank you very much to Tofilau and also Asomua and the rest of the company," he said.
"We notice that it isn’t cheap because the association does not have any money, which means that schools are supposed to go out and fund-raise some money for these events.
"But we thank you so much for the much needed assistance, supporting from the many years ago and is still continuing."
Tofilau assured that SSAB does not only look at the benefits of sponsoring academic programmes for the students but also the ones who serve for the physical health of the students.
"SSAB sees that academic knowledge and physical health should go together," she said.
"Physical health needs the prioritizing of sports, like athletics, like what English saying, a healthy mind, healthy body.
"Another reason is that we believe that it’s important to develop the skills of the students of Samoa in the areas of sport, so that sometime in the future you are able to represent Samoa."
Tofilau recalls the proud moments of seeing youngsters competing in the most recent Pacific Games last month, saying their is great potential in our country.
"Just an advice to our students, you need to prioritize good sportsmanship. Compete with pride, with respect.
"But above all things, make sure you give importance to your calling, whatever it may be from the Lord in your life but may it increase the praise for the Lord always."
In addition to this, Tofilau revealed at the press conference that they will be looking into providing a scholarship for an excelling student in both sports and academics, in order to push the message that there is a future in pursuing sports.
