S.S.A.B's Marketing Manager charged

The Marketing Manager for Samoa Stationery and Books (S.S.A.B.), Asomua Asia Stanley, has been charged for the alleged use of offensive language.

Asomua was charged last week.

He confirmed that the Police had charged him last week, when he was contacted for a comment by the Samoa Observer.

The charge is understood to follow an incident in June which led to a Police complaint.

Asomua said he has apologised to the complainant.

He says the complainant in the matter has already made two attempts to withdraw the complaint but was told that any withdrawal of the charge must come from from the Court.

Asomua said the incident from which the charges stemmed occurred in June.

“We have already solved the issue with the woman and we’re okay now," Asomua said.

Attempts to independently verify Asomua's claim that the complainant had sought to withdraw the charge were not successful.

Police did not respond to repeated requests for a comment.
