Prime Minister Tuilaepa Dr. Sa'ilele Malielegaoi is unfazed by a complaint laid with the Police alleging that he made defamatory remarks against a man.

The complaint has been filed by Nonu Ueni Fonoti, who is a former President of the Samoa Solidarity International Group (S.S.I.G.).

“I am not going to waste my precious time on that, I have better things to do," the Prime Minister said.

Nonu claims the Prime Minister, who is also the Minister of Police, defamed him on national television over his disability.

Tuilaepa said the complainant can deal with the Attorney General's Office on the matter.

"As you know the Attorney General's Office handled such matters and it’s not something that I would waste my precious time on,” he said.

Commissioner of Police, Fuiavaili'ili Egon Keil, has confirmed that the complaint was lodged with the Police when contacted by this newspaper.

The complaint was filed with the Police on June 5, 2019 as well as with the Office of the Ombudsman on June 18, 2019.
