New Zealand couple Samantha Mactaggart and Jackson Canter-Visscher have been impressed with Samoa.

They came to know about the island through the Samoan communities in New Zealand, and so far they have not been disappointed with the warm and welcoming smiles of the locals.

"It's all just really beautiful and very colourful and I can't think of any flaws I see about Samoa. Everyone's so friendly and lovely and we're lucky to be here," Samantha said.

The couple is in Samoa for a few days to relax and enjoy the island life, and so far they have loved their visit with the sights of Samoa.

Samantha was impressed with the students preparations for the Pacific Games.

"I thought they were so so cute and it's so lovely and beautiful to see all that while driving and it's just so beautiful," she said.

The couple wishes to return and learn more about the Samoan culture that they thought was interesting to learn.

"You can actually feel the sense of community here and it's very lovely to get smiles from anyone and people peeping horns when they drive by is very welcoming," Jackson said.

They are staying at Sheraton Hotel in Mulifanua and a team from the Samoa Observer met them while they were walking around Apia.

The couple said they preferred Samoa maintain its "colorful" and "beautiful" scenery.
