Former Electoral Commissioner, Papali’i Malietau Malietoa, has appeared in the Supreme Court for criminal mention.

Supreme Court Judge, Justice Leiataualesa Daryl Clarke, presided over the matter on Monday. 

Prosecutor was Attorney General’s lawyer, Lucy Sio Ofoia. Papali’i was represented by lawyer, Unasa Iuni Sapolu.

Mrs. Ofoia asked for an adjournment to allow prosecution to finalise charges and her client was granted a two-week adjournment. 

Papali’i faces forgery related charges in relation to alleged matters when he was the Commissioner of the Electoral Office in 2014.

In 2015, Papali’i was sacked by Cabinet following a recommendation from the Public Service Commission. 

The charges comes four years after the former Electoral Commissioner left the office.
