Young man wants to be successful to help his family
Meet PJ Manuia from Iva Savai’i and Vaitele Fou.
He is a 17-year-old who is trying his best to complete his education.
Speaking to the Village Voice team, PJ, who is a student at the Seventh Day Adventist College at Lalovaea, says education is not easy.
“At the moment; all my focus and energy is on my education. I just want to be successful in the future so that I can find myself a job to support my family especially my parents,” he said.
“There are a lot of people in my family who are working to support my education and without them; I wouldn’t be here still having this opportunity.”
“It is only fair that we use these opportunities given to us wisely because we know that there are a lot of kids around the world who are struggling because they never have opportunities for a good education.”
He believes that ‘this is where our future starts’.
“This time determines what we hold in the future because nothing comes easy anymore and if we fail now to play our role and make use of our time in school, then you can go on in life knowing that you will have nothing in the future.”
“Our families are there to encourage us so we must always listen and obey. “
“No one was born a genius in this world; we all learn throughout life. So once you discover that knowledge and skills, you can achieve your dreams.”
“So don’t be lazy and dishonest in doing your homework but study hard because your actions now determine your results in the exams.”
“If you have access to good education; prioritize it and use it wisely because this is your future.”
“Another thing is to help out your family and parents at home and don’t expect to be spoon-fed all the time. “
