Apia West Union back to Square One

The Apia West Rugby Union has finally sorted out internal issues after their special Annual General Meeting on Wednesday.

The conflict within the Union earlier this year resulted in some of their core teams switching to compete in the Apia Rugby Union.

According to the President of the Apia West Rugby Union, Aiono Tony Aiono, the Union is now back to square one and have already sorted out issues which caused the conflict.

“After our meeting, our Union has also welcomed and passed a new foundation for the Union.”

Prime Minister and Chairman of the Samoa Rugby Union, Tuilaepa Sa’ilele Malielegaoi was also present during meeting.

He was there to witness and observe the agenda as well as advise on how to solve the issue.

Aiono stated their main objective now is to complete their domestic tournament that is underway, and start preparing their players for the upcoming Super Nine Championships, which kicks off in the next two weeks.

He also added they are working on a plan to develop the young players in their Franchise to represent Samoa.

“It’s really up to Marist St Joseph’s Club on when they will return to the Union, but as long as we know that is up to them to decide because all the issues have already been sorted out during our meeting.”
