Youth come together in praise
Hymns and praises of the Almighty God rung out loud and clear at the E.F.K.S. Hall at Sogi on Wednesday night.
The occasion was the 2017 Samoa National Youth Praise Festival.
The four-day event kicked off with gospel singing and performances from numerous churches, youth groups and individuals in the country.
The festival is being coordinated by the Youth for Christ (Y.F.C), along with partners in the public and private sectors, communities and churches.
In its third year now, about 20 choirs from different denominations in the country are participating.
The Youth for Christ organization is a group comprising people from different denominations with the same aim – to impact the lives of young people so that they can be a force for change in their own churches, families and communities.
One of the youths at the event, Tautulu Leota, told the Samoa Observer that the event is a refreshing one for many youths.
“Personally, it’s all about coming together and understanding how faithful our Lord is every day, there’s so much happening in the lives of so many youths in our country.
“But I think, the only answer lies in Jesus, He’s our own source in times of troubles and we all know that.”
He said the event was a reminder, “That without the Lord, you have no power.
“He’s our only strength and being part for this year’s programme is a great opportunity for everyone to come and be part of it.
“He’s the only answer to everyone's circumstances which may be severe marriage problems, financial problems, rebellious children, drugs, alcohol or serious health problems.”
A mother of two from Sogi, Talioalo Numialetaua, said the programme was a great one for young youths.
“I think the main reason why we have problems with youths is because there are few words of encouragement and no love for families.
“But this kind of programme encourages us to do well in life and there’s always hope when we take God to lead and guide us.
“A good reminder for them that God sent His Son to pay the price, shedding His Blood on the Cross for all sinners, not only that, but He also came to heal the sick and deliver people from the bondages of sin.” The programme continues tonight.
