Welsh delegation coming to Samoa
A delegation from World Rugby is scheduled to be in Samoa and Tonga within the next fortnight to assess whether facilities in each country are fit to host the Welsh rugby team.
A final decision on Wales’ proposed tour of the South Pacific next summer will be made by the end of October.
Tests have been scheduled in Samoa and Tonga in June but the games could be moved to New Zealand.
Reports say the Union is concerned over facilities and medical cover on a tour that would take place at the same time as when the Lions visit New Zealand.
The Welsh Rugby Union are committed to the idea of playing on the islands but will consider alternatives if guarantees over player welfare are not met with Auckland the favourite destination.
