Swim Series champion

It was a good day at Sinalei on Saturday for Maryanne Heffernan.

The 59-year-old from South Australia won her first Samoa Swim Series (S.S.S) title in the women's race against tough opposition.  The women's race was a lot closer.

Heffernan had the Pacific Open Water Champion and S.S.S regular Christina Harris of Nelson sniping at her toes all the way.

The two shared the first two races, but Heffernan won the important one at the Sinalei Lagoon.

She won the Manono Island swim by four minutes, lost the Saoluafata swim by a similar margin, and took out the Sinalei swim by 30 seconds.

Her overall winning time by 30secs.

Christina Harris has another podium finish and new comer Ruth Patterson of Victoria claims third spot.

In the women's 2km Series, young Eltham resident Rebecca Brown took out the title, overall, beating the best the men had to offer.
