Peace, prosperity in this family

It is the responsibility of a father to maintain peace and harmony in the family.

This is what Fereti Tavina of Leusoali’i said to the Village Voice yesterday.

“So much is always said about mothers being the root of all good things in families.” he said.

“Yes it can be true but it can’t go well without a father and that’s what God wants.

“You see, He created a man and a woman to work together for the good of their children and  continue our purpose in this life – and that is – to serve and thank Him every day.

He went on to say that a father is also the one who looks after the lands and titles of the family.

“Mothers can’t do that. Fathers mostly deal with that and it is very important for us to stand strong in our calling in whatever we do for the sake of our children for tomorrow.

“I’m not saying that mothers don’t have a role but I’m just trying to explain what many fathers are doing right now to develop their families in so many ways....

“As for me, we have a project of taro palagi, me and other three men are working on that project with a hope to earn money from it in the near future.

“In my family, we have everything, pigs, chicken, and also a tilapia project, and we’ve been doing that for so long.

“Yes, we earn a lot of money from it (tilapia), not only that but it feeds my family, and as a father, I am so grateful that everything is there for us to make good use of it not only for today, but also for our children tomorrow.

Moreover he said, everything goes well in the village.

“We have a village council that governs everything and we all know that they are the supreme authority of everything.

“Not in a bad way, but to help us out in so many ways that they understand would benefit the village and the whole community.

“That’s a good thing to hear to my understanding, so everything is great this side of the country.

“The saying goes that ‘United we stand, divided we fall’, meaning we need to work together.”
