The biological father of an 18-year-old rape victim who passed away recently due to heart problems has been charged. 

The man faces four charges of rape and corresponding charges of incest, carnal knowledge and sexual intercourse with a young person. 

He is scheduled to appear before the Supreme Court for a hearing in May this year. 

The victim – who was known as Rosa – was under the care of the Samoa Victim Support Group (SVSG) until her passing. 

She was laid to rest at her home in Fasito’o-uta last month. 

Rosa sought refuge at the SVSG in September last year and was constantly referred to the National Hospital for treatment. She is alleged to have been sexually abused at the tender age of 13 and had several miscarriages leading to infections, which she suffered from until she died.
