Govt. shows Toa Samoa support

The government has thrown its full support behind Toa Samoa’s bid to secure the holy grail of rugby league.

Acting Prime Minister, Papali’i Niko Lee Hang, expressed the nation’s well wishes to coach, Matt Parish, captain Frank Pritchard and the rest of the team.

The sacrifice a number of players made to represent Samoa was not lost on the Acting Prime Minister who saluted them for their patriotic spirits.

“I applaud the efforts of the coaching staff and all our players to choose Samoa as their number one option,” said Papali’i.

“The concept of opportunity cost in economics mirrors well with Toa Samoa team members in choosing Samoa as their preferred option despite the benefits from other countries that offer more than us.

“You have indeed sacrificed financial gains for the sake of your beloved country Samoa. You have sacrificed a lot because of your love and hearts for our country, and I thank you for that.”

Papali’i assured them that Samoa would be praying for their mission.

“When you are alone, remember that Samoa is behind you all the way. We wish you all the best for the upcoming Rugby League World Cup.”

Papali’i spoke during a function at the Tanoa Tusitala Hotel.

The Toa Samoa team is in Samoa this week to prepare for the Rugby League World Cup, which kicks off next week. Their first game is against the Kiwis in New Zealand.
