Court finds Fa’amausili Moli guilty
The man touted to be next holder of the Malietoa title, Fa’amausili Moli, has been found guilty of being armed with a dangerous weapon; uttering insulting words and throwing an object.
The verdict follows a trial held earlier this year before District Court Judge Talasa Lumepa Atoa Sa'aga.
The charges are in connection to a dispute with his family members.
Fa’amausili is the son of the late Head of State, his Highness Malietoa Tanumafili II.
He originally faced four charges.
A charge of assault was dismissed.
“For the charge of common assault I am not satisfied beyond a reasonable doubt,” ruled Judge Talasa.
Sentencing for the matter has been scheduled for 24 May 2018.
Fa’amausili was represented in Court by lawyer, Taulapapa Brenda Heather-Latu.
Prosecuting for the Police were Sergeant Khamthan Stanley and Senior Sergeant Alofioa’ana Kenneth Komiti.
Last year in December, the Land and Titles Court ruled in favour of Fa’amausili as the next holder of the Malietoa title.
The Malietoa title has been vacant for more than ten years since the passing of former Head of State, His Highness Malietoa Tanumafili II.
