The XXVIII Vailima Marist International Sevens is shaping up to be an exciting event, promising days of action–packed rugby featuring the best players in Samoa and from overseas.

The mood was set superbly on Monday night when the event was officially launched at the Marist Hall in Lotopa.

There, the President of Apia Concrete Products, Tupua Fred Wetzell, donated $30,000 to the tournament, which starts 19 February next year.

“The Foundation of Samoa stands proud, thanks to the God above,” said Tupua.

“A.C.P over many years has continued sponsoring the Sevens and other sports, including the Manu Samoa.”

“We [at] A.C.P convey our heartfelt and humble thanks for your consideration in naming these facilities as the A.C.P. Samoa stadium and club house.”

Prime Minister and Patron of Marist St. Joseph’s Sports Club, Tuilaepa Sa’ilele Malielegaoi said in his speech that Marist needs to reclaim its former sevens glory.

“Our players need to focus on their mentality, if we believe that we are going to win then we will win,” he said.

“We acknowledge the support of the President of A.C.P. Tupua Fred Wetzell, for the club every year. May the Lord continue to bless you and your company as well.”
