Team Tanoa Tusitala Hotel stole the show to finish in first place in the first race of the Powerade Business Tri at Mulinu’u on Monday.

The fantastic showing by the hotel team was undisputed, even after handicap adjustments, to finish three minutes ahead of their closest rival.

Team Tanoa was made up of Chef Michael Hardy who did the swim, Lemon farmer Wally Collins who biked his team into a winning position and General Manager and team captain Jason Strickland who ran an easy 4kms to cement the win.

Well ahead of Apia Concrete Products who finished in second overall. ACP  Team was captained by company director Angie Wetzell who cycled the two laps of Mulinu’u Peninsula. Young Mona Hamilton spearheaded the swim, he finished third overall in the swim. The run was done by Paogo Ulugia who looked in all intents and purposes to be a seasoned runner.

Third place went to Ford Samoa a minute behind ACP. Finishing in fourth place was Eric’s Bike Repairs (Daniel Afoa, Eric Smolik and Mark Moors).

In fifth place was Magik FM made up of Durant Webster (swim), Tony Callaghan (bike) and the run was by Helene Stehlin. We had high hopes for Magik FM and rightly so but for mechanical bike issues which should be fixed for race 2 in two weeks’ time.

Rounding up the remaining spots were Vailima Breweries, EZIBro Juice Bar, TV3 and US Peace Corps.

Samoa Triathlon Federation initiative to run a weekly Business House Tri Series to the end of Daylight Saving at the end of the month is an innovative way to engage the business community and new people in the sport of Triathlon in Samoa.

Race 2 of the Business House series is in two weeks on Monday, 14th March.
