An unfair legislation

Dear Editor,

I write in response to your editorial titled “The monotaga is the right thing to do.”

There was a reason why the Tautua Party challenged and heavily scrutinized this bill when it was proposed after the last election. Even after it was passed.

The current ruling party set this in motion when they realized that the people are longing for a Better Samoa and equal opportunities based on the results of said election.

My question is with the monotaga, who records these services or contributions to the village or district? And how much services/contributions required to satisfy this so-called monotaga.

If you can bribe a Matai to make false allegations or testimony by ignoring a potential candidates monotaga for political gains, then this law needs to remove or amended to include specific minimum requirements.

The other question with respect to a particular case with Le Tagaloa is, given his title as stated in this article. Can he remove Faumina from his village/district and banned his whole family?

That is the only fair conclusion to this unethical election.
