Court Officers arrested and charged
Court Officers Mane Jr Su’a and Vili Matthes have been arrested and charged.
This was confirmed by Police Superintendent, Auapa’au Logoitino Filipo, in response to questions from the Samoa Observer yesterday.
The charges are in connection to the glass pipe used to smoke methamphetamine or ice that the Police confiscated from the Court compound last week.
Su’a, was arrested and charged on Tuesday while Matthes was arrested and charged on Wednesday night.
“They are both being charged with possession of utensils and were remanded in custody at Tafa’igata and will appear in Court on 30 April, 2018,” said Auapa’au.
“That is all I can say on this matter.”
Questions regarding allegations, regarding personnel cheques were not answered by Auapa’au.
He confirmed the Court Officers are in Police custody until next week.
C.E.O. of the Ministry of Justice and Courts Administration (M.J.C.A.), Papali’i John Taimalelagi, confirmed the Court Officers are both suspended in accordance with the Public Service Act 2004.
“The matter is now before the Court, I cannot comment any further,” he said.
Last week, M.J.C.A. Assistant C.E.O., Ve’atauia Fa’atasi Puleiata, confirmed that Police confiscated a glass pipe used to smoke methamphetamine from the M.J.C.A.’s compound.
