As the countdown continues towards the 4 March 2016 General Elections, two politicians have revealed their intentions to step down.
In Parliament yesterday, Tuileutu Alavaa Voi and Alo Fuifui Taveuveu announced that they are not contesting their seats. Tuileutu is the M.P for Fa’asaleleaga No. 3 while Alo is from the Anoama’a East constituency.
In thanking his constituency for their support and electing him into Parliament, Tuileutu said his decision not to run again was not easy.
“It cannot be hidden and it’s been made known (my decision),” said the M.P.
“Thank you for everything. Let us find someone fitting to take over.”
In a previous interview with Tuileutu he confirmed he will not run in the March election due to his health.
Next to take the floor was Alo Fuifui.
Alo told Parliament that his heart still wants to serve but he has to listen to his body.
“That is why I have decided to step aside,” said Alo.
“I am not as strong as I used to…but I thank you Anoama’a West for the more than four years that you have trusted me to sit on the seat.”
