The description by the Hon. Prime Minister of World Rugby’s attitude as ‘stupid’, is quite apt.
The description could not be more correct judging by the contents of the press statement from World Rugby published in today’s Samoa Observer.
World Rugby says it did not try to influence the selection process of the 15’s coach. It only pulled its support of paying the coach’s salary when S.R.U. did not support the interviewing panel’s recommendation for a new 15’s coach. The interviewing panel just happened to have a World Rugby representative!
World Rugby should have been more forthright in its press release.
It should have just said ‘World Rugby pulled its support when it could not influence the Samoa Rugby Union’s decision to appoint Fuimaono as the 15’s coach’.
Message to World Rugby: ‘Be honest… stop being stupid!’
