WE WILL BE BACK: Anthony and Thea Watkins.

Anthony Watkins and his family are not at all fazed with the hot weather in Samoa.

In fact, it has been a welcome relief from the bone chilling cold climate of the current New Zealand weather.

Moving deeper into the Pacific, Anthony and his family are originally from Australia and migrated to New Zealand.

Wanting to explore more of the Pacific, they decided to check out Samoa.

They wanted to experience a different culture and make memories with their children.

So far so great. They said they are loving their time in tropical Samoa.

“Since moving to New Zealand from Australia we wanted to explore the “local” area around New Zealand,” Anthony said.

“We heard Samoa was very nice and the people were nice so we just wanted to see what Samoa is all about.”

The Samoa Observer met the Watkins family two days into their ten day trip.

Yesterday, they were scouring the shops of Apia, hunting for cultural items.

One of their favourite places was the makeshift Fugalei market.

So far they have felt welcomed by the locals complimenting them on their friendliness and openness since their arrival.

They have sampled local delicacies at the S.T.A Cultural Village and in particular enjoyed the Samoan version of the New Zealand “hangi.”

A highlight for their children was swimming  in the cool fresh waters of Piula Caves.

The Watkins are looking forward to their excursion to Savai’i next week, hoping to make more memories with their children on their Samoan adventure.
