BETWEEN THE LINES

No media

The British American Tobacco Company, previously known as Rothmans, celebrated a milestone at Robert Louis Stevenson Museum last night.

It was their 40th birthday in Samoa.

When a reporter from this newspaper turned up, she was told no media and that it was a closed function.

Hmmm… I wonder why.

Is this legal?

This is a photo (top) taken by a local pilot and posted on Facebook just before a Samoa Airways flight landed.

The pilot who took the photo and posted it was not flying the plane. But the question is, is this legal, especially at a time when the plane is preparing to land?

Does this photo not run the risk of interrupting the pilot and the first officer? What do you think?

It would be good to hear from some aviation experts. After all, we are talking about a matter of public safety.

Would you like a cookie?

How about this for bizarre?  US Police are investigating after a high school student allegedly made cookies with a disturbing extra ingredient. According to a student witness, two students were part of the plot to make and pass out sugar cookies with one of their grandparents' cremated ashes baked inside. Police said the cookies were distributed to at least nine students.

Wow. What has this world come to?
