I write in response to the letter from the Regulator about the threat from First Solar.
I find it interesting that the people of Samoa don’t seem to see this case as serious but it’s a very serious case.
It can have a huge negative impact on the people of this nation and the government is not being honest about it.
First, E.P.C responded to Jack Curtis’s of SfS and said they’re in negotiations.
PM Tuilaepa also said the same thing when he responded. Now the Regulator has responded citing local laws.
In my previous letter, I mentioned that Jack Curtis and the financial institute (Goldman Sachs) behind him are very vicious.
They don’t care about local laws as they are operating under the W.T.O laws.
I also mentioned that the most powerful and influential people are in Goldman Sachs. Goldman Sachs is the same company that sued the American govt in the past and won.
Watch this negotiation very closely. I bet you nothing will change from SfS and Jack Curtis - he/they will walk away as the winners with $100s of Millions of Samoa Tala and the people of Samoa will suffer as a direct consequence of the govt being the losers.
At the end of the day, these questions remain -
1. PM Tuilaepa, who is the fool that negotiated with this company and approved to give SfS/Jack Curtis US$0.33 cents per unit?
2. What are the terms of conditions of the contract?”
For the govt to negotiate with SfS/Jack Curtis and hope for a lesser deal, is a waste of time. This will eventually cost taxpayers $100s of Millions which means the price of electricity will go up again.
The government however, has 2 choices - either they agree with SfS/Jack Curtis’s terms and pay him the US$0.33 cents per unit or get sued by SfS and he walks away with $100s of Millions without even putting up a single solar panel.
I call on the media to follow up this case and watch it unfold slowly. PM Tuilaepa and H.R.P.P know they’re in a lot of trouble with this case.
