Just two hours into the New Year, a baby boy was born at 3.9 grammes to Lisa Ioasa, of Mulifanua.

Senior Nurse Specialist at the Tupua Tamasese Meaole Hospital Motootua, Robyn Roache, said the baby was born healthy, and has been discharged with his mother and their family.

Since baby Ioasa’s birth, the hospital has welcomed 15 babies: six boys and nine girls, including a pair of twins.

By noon on the 2nd, seven babies had been born, with several more women waiting to deliver their babies still.

One of those babies, yet to be named is the son of Crystall Apete.

She held her day old baby close as they posed for a photo.

Crystall’s mother, Elsie Apete said they arrived in the hospital yesterday afternoon, and the labour lasted till midnight, when the baby was born.
