President of Land and Titles Court resigns

The President of the Land and Titles Court, Tagaloa Tuala Kerslake, has resigned. 

This was confirmed by the Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry of Justice and Courts Administration, Papali’i John Taimalelagi, yesterday. 

He told the Samoa Observer that the President tendered his resignation to the Head of State, His Highness Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese Efi and Chief Justice, His Honour Patu Tiava’asu’e Falefatu Sapolu, on Monday this week. 

“He resigned for family reasons,” explained the C.E.O. 

“His resignation will be effective on Friday, 22nd April.”

It was not possible to get a comment from Tagaloa yesterday.

The President is 62 years old and from the village of Saoluafata.  He was first appointed as the President of L.T.C. on 1st February 2005 and has served as President for 11 years.  Prior to that, Tagaloa had served as a senior public servant for 27 years. 

He was a former Chief Executive Officer/Secretary for Justice from 1989 to 1996. 

Following that he was successful in the general election as a Member of Parliament for Anoama’a West from 1996 to 2005.  He was a former Minister of Natural Resources and Environment.
