Despite heavy rain and clouds yesterday morning, the teachers and students of Maluafou College were not deterred.

Having prepared their costumes and practiced for a grueling three weeks, nothing was going to stop them celebrating and putting on a great performance for their annual Culture Day.

Held at the school compound, the students were divided into four school houses – Savaii, Upolu, Manono and Apolima.

They also covered four categories, Samoan food, Samoan Speeches, Myths and Legends and Samoan Songs

The students taking part said that the Day was important for the young generation of the school to get to know their culture and traditions and what our ancestors had done.

Parents and families as well as friends were among the audience witnessing the celebration.
